The Qutub Minar, located in the Mehrauli area of South Delhi, is the tallest brick minaret in the world and a cornerstone of Indo-Islamic architecture. A UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993, it serves as a "Victory Tower" marking the start of Muslim rule in India.

Historical Timeline
The tower was not built by a single ruler but evolved over centuries:
1199: Qutb-ud-din Aibak laid the foundation and built the first storey.
1220: His successor Iltutmish added three more storeys.
1369: After lightning damaged the top, Firoz Shah Tughlaq replaced the fourth storey and added the fifth (final) level using marble and sandstone.
1505: Sikandar Lodi carried out further repairs after an earthquake.
